The Service

Lusófono helps you build and practise a personal European Portuguese vocabulary from your own learning materials. Features may include file uploads, vocabulary management, practice exercises, and AI-assisted suggestions. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

Accounts

• You must sign in with a valid Google account to use most features.
• You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
• You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure.
• You must be old enough to use online services in your country.

Subscriptions and payments

Some features require a paid subscription processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges according to the plan shown at checkout until you cancel. You can manage or cancel your subscription through the billing portal linked from your account.

Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If a payment fails, we may suspend access to paid features until billing is resolved.

Your content

You retain ownership of materials you upload. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to extract vocabulary and generate practice activities.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Upload malware, spam, or content that infringes someone else's rights
• Attempt to access other users' data or disrupt the Service
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload our systems without permission
• Resell or commercially exploit the Service without our consent

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Intellectual property

Lusófono's name, branding, software, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as intended.

AI-generated and educational content

Translations, definitions, examples, and other suggestions may be generated or enriched automatically. They are provided for language learning only and may contain errors. Do not rely on Lusófono as a substitute for professional translation, legal, medical, or other specialised advice.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or zero if you use the Service for free.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance.
